The Eric Hoffer Award announced last week that Kings, Conquerors, Psychopaths has been named 1st Runner-Up for Legacy Nonfiction. This is the third Eric Hoffer award, as the book was previously named to the Short List for the Grand Prize, and as a Finalist for the Montaigne Medal.
The book also currently enjoys a 4.9 rating on Amazon.com.
In addition to the Eric Hoffer Award recognition, book bloggers have begun discovering KCP, to much praise. Stephanie Verhaegen in her blog Bookfever applauded, “…this is only my third [5-star rating] of the year… It was simply outstanding…” Blogger Jeyran Main was also enthusiastic, “✯✯✯✯✯ …If you are into politics and history, then this book will be your bible.” More 5-star ratings and kudos were added by the blogs Under Rated Reads, IndiesToday, The Death of Carthage, The Moderate Voice, and even The Mathematical Association of America,
These comments match the reviews from mainstream publications. Publishers Weekly commended the book as a “…concise, compelling, and challenging exploration of how humanity became what it is.” Kirkus Reviews similarly lauded, “…the book’s scientific analysis, which spans Darwin’s concept of evolution to cutting-edge psychology, is a welcome addition to historical conversations…”
The Eric Hoffer Award prizes join the first two awards that KCP received, from the Indies Awards, as the Winner in Current Events/Social Change, and a Finalist for Historical Non-Fiction.

Enjoyed hearing you speak at the Writers Guild of Acadiana. I am also slowly working through your book that I won as a prize. I am unable to spend as much time reading as think that I should be able to spend reading considering how little money I often make.
Your premise interests me in that there have been ( it seems to me) relatively few critiques of the kind of evolutionary biology behind Social Darwinism and the ideas that occurred in the era of early eugenics and proto-NAZI philosophy. Your inquiry as with your scholarly “saboteuse” piece examines evidence at the root of these ideas and reaches different conclusions.
